CFUW Ontario Council Fall 2017 Advocacy Newsletter

Hello everyone!

The Regional Gatherings this year were dynamic! The rooms were alive with enthusiasm and energy in discussing the very issues that ignite our fire and passion for change. I am sure your issues groups generate the same level of excitement!

The Advocacy Team for Ontario Council has been very busy, especially during the summer as you’ll see from the Submissions listed below. With flair and flourish, we started our newly named Speaker Series this September featuring four outstanding female politicians discussing why they went into politics. The Speaker Series/Standing Committees workshops continue with the theme of Elections for both the January and March meetings.

And ladies, we have a new website that went live after the September meeting – More advocacy and club information and a link to an introductory power point can be found below. Please also read about our upcoming Ontario Council resolution on urban development, for those of you who wish to fight city hall!

Ontario Council is indebted to the hardworking Advocacy team, led by Teri Shaw, Advocacy Co-ordinator. Many hours are dedicated by Standing Committee Chairs, Anne Cordon, Sheila Lacroix, and Kathy Wosnick, along with our policy advisors, Margaret McGovern, Early Learning and Child Care, and Carolyn Day, Environmental. This team keeps CFUW Ontario Council in the forefront of issues and making an impact – for the betterment of women and girls.

We are making our mark. Our voices are being heard. The power of women working together and supporting each other is what we are about…keep up the great work!
