CFUW Ontario Council 2020 AGM

Due to the COVID-19 situation, a decision has been made to have an electronic AGM this year. The virtual Ontario Council Annual General Meeting is scheduled for May 23, 2020 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.

You may register for the AGM at the link below. All attendees must register on or before 12 noon on May 22nd, 2020.

When you complete your registration please indicate “Member” for Job Title, and “CFUW Ontario Council” for Company Name.

Clubs unable to have a voting delegate at the AGM shall be entitled to vote by proxy by completing a Proxy Form – Club Delegate. Proxy forms must be submitted by e-mail to secretary@cfuwontcouncil.org on or before May 21st, 2020.

The Proposed Amendments to the CFUW Ontario Council Constitution and Bylaws (revised Mar 2019) that will be considered and voted on at the AGM May 23rd, 2020, are now available for downloading.

Members are invited to submit amendments to the Proposed Amendments to the Bylaws using Form 2 which must be fully completed and submitted by e-mail to bylaws@cfuwontcouncil.org by May 1, 2020.

At the AGM in May, only proposed amendments properly received and compliant will be allowed. Bylaw elements that are legally required by the Ontario Corporations Act must be instituted and any amendments to these clauses must be legally consistent.

The Ontario Council Nominations Committee is pleased to have received a number of nomination and application forms for Director positions on the Ontario Council Board.  Elections will take place at the virtual Annual General Meeting (AGM) on May 23rd. All Board Director positions are open for election.  The eligibility requirements for Director positions are outlined in our Bylaws, clause 2.05.    

The following candidates provided their nomination package during the published nominations period and will be standing for election at the AGM.

There were no nomination packages received for the following positions during the nominations period: Education Committee Chair*, RD Ontario South, RD Ontario Central*, Secretary*, Treasurer* and President**.

*However, since the close of the nominations period, there are Members who have expressed interest in standing for these positions.

**The nominee for President must have served at least one (1) term on the Ontario Council Board or in a leadership position with CFUW Ontario Council.

Nominations for director positions are allowed “from the floor” at the virtual AGM as per the Ontario Corporations Act.  In order to be efficient with our AGM business meeting proceedings, you are requested to submit the nomination and application forms to the Nominations Committee prior to the AGM. Proposed candidates must meet the eligibility criteria as per Bylaws clause 2.05 and be registered and in attendance at the virtual AGM.

Should there be no candidates nominated for a position, the incumbent will continue in that position until they resign or until their successors are elected or appointed as per Bylaws clause 2.06.
