2019 Ontario North Fall Gathering

2019 Ontario North Fall Gathering

The 2019 Ontario North Fall Gathering was held on October 18 and 19, hosted by CFUW Sudbury. We were treated to a lovely reception on Friday evening, held at a member’s home. It was a wonderful opportunity for socializing, sharing ideas, and meeting other CFUW members.

The theme of the event on Saturday, which was held at Laurentian University’s Vale Living with Lakes Centre, was “Living with Lakes: Protecting our Waters”. The sessions were very interesting and informative. Participants learned about the Junction Creek urban waterway’s restoration to health and the transformation of lake and air quality in Sudbury as a result of government, industry, university, and community partnerships. Everyone came away with ideas that can be implemented in their own communities to improve the environment.

CFUW members from Orillia, North Bay, Sudbury, Thunder Bay, and Haliburton Highlands attended. Also in attendance were Grace Hollett, National President, Sandy Thomson, Ontario Council President, and Roline Maconachie, Ontario North Regional Director. Mary Jane Waszynski, Regional Director from Ontario South attended as a guest.
