Ontario Council sent comments to the Standing Committee on Finance and Economic Affairs concerning the amendments to Bill 148, Fair Workplaces, Better Jobs Act 2017.
We are supportive of:
- the increases to minimum wages
- that an employee is an employee with the onus on the employer to prove otherwise
- that much of Bill 26, Domestic and Sexual Violence Protection Act has been incorporated into a separate section on Domestic or Sexual Violence Leave
We are concerned about:
- the pay transparency clauses.
